Free but donations to Dyslexia Scotland are appreciated
Join Dyslexia Scotland and our newest Ambassador Hamza Yassin for an evening of dyslexia, birding and more!
In a conversation with BBC Scotland Journalist Laura Maciver, herself a mum of 2 children with dyslexia, Hamza will talk about how he sees his dyslexia, how it has shaped him and his desire to be a role model to children. He will also talk about his experience of writing his latest book, ‘Be a Birder’.
Hamza is known to many for presenting on ‘Countryfile’, ‘Animal Park’, Scottish wildlife programme ‘Scotland: Escape to the Wilderness’ and most recently ‘Hamza: Strictly birds of prey’. Children and parents will recognise him as Ranger Hamza on the popular CBeebies live-action show ‘Let’s Go For A Walk’. Most of the UK will remember Hamza for his incredible ability to dance on ‘Strictly Come Dancing 2022’, in particular his winning Salsa with dance-partner Jowita Przytal.
Hamza was identified as dyslexic in school and has attributed his success to the learning difference that he shares with ten percent of Scotland’s population. Hamza has recently been appointed as an official Ambassador for Dyslexia Scotland.
All are welcome to this free event, where a range of information on dyslexia will also be on display. We hope that the event will inspire and encourage a range of ages who struggle with some of the challenges they face with dyslexia and those who embrace the positives.
You’ll have the chance to buy a copy of Hamza’s book, Be a Birder, on the night.
