We’re looking for a Freelance Band & Songwriting Tutor to join Pump Up The Jam – our established youth band & songwriting programme for S1–S6.
About the Role
Pump Up The Jam is an established band and songwriting programme for young people in S1–S6. Delivered in 8-week blocks, participants are grouped into bands to collaboratively write and develop original music. They then record their work in the Tolbooth studio before performing at an end of term showcase.
We are currently expanding the programme to increase capacity and broaden the range of musical styles represented, particularly beyond traditional guitar-based rock and pop.
We are especially interested in hearing from tutors with experience in hip-hop, electronic music, beat-making, music production, alternative genres or non-traditional instruments. This tutor should be confident facilitating collaborative songwriting sessions, including lyric writing and creative development.
The dates and hours of the workshops are as follows:
AUTUMN 26: Thurs 20th Aug – Thus 8th Oct, 4:30pm-7:30pm
WINTER 26: Thurs 29th Oct – Thurs 17th Dec, 4:30pm-7:30pm
SPRING 27: Thurs 4th Feb – Thurs 25th Mar, 4:30pm-7:30pm
Payment Information
The overall freelance fee is £3,168, calculated as follows:
• 24 x 3-hour workshops @ £44 per hour
Payments made via invoice at the end of each 8 week block.

• Holds (or is willing to obtain) PVG membership
